SiberSafe Styler Lowers XML Publishing Transformations Costs
Delivers a simple, fast, cost-effective alternative to XSLT scripting
Toronto, Canada - May 30, 2008 - SiberLogic, a leading provider of XML content technology, today announces SiberSafe Styler, a simple, fast, and cost-effective alternative to XSLT scripting for XML publishing transformations.
For technical documentation teams working with XML-based content, the cost of styled publishing transformations can be significant. Traditional transformation frameworks, such as XSLT, that ensure a specific look and feel to published documentation are often difficult and costly to develop, and equally expensive to maintain. Some organizations choose to outsource their transformation requirements to an external consultant; others retain specialist - and hard to replace - internal resources. Both approaches are costly and, ultimately, many organizations become hostage to the intellectual property accumulated in their transformation scripts, unprepared or unable to modify them to meet evolving business needs.
SiberSafe Styler reduces the complexity of XML publishing transformations; delivering a simple, fast, cost-effective alternative to XSLT scripting that enables non-technical users to control the look and feel of their output.
SiberSafe Styler leverages Microsoft Word’s XML capabilities and familiar document formatting interface. A sample XML document is opened in Word, and styles are assigned to the tags presented (page, paragraph, font, bullet and numbering, etc.) Stationery information, such as title page graphics and caution/warning icons, is then added until this template document meets the design requirements for the organization’s published documentation.
From this template, SiberSafe Styler produces a stylesheet that can then be used to process any XML document that features similar XML elements and element hierarchies. The user loads the stylesheet into their CMS publishing environment, publishes to WordML, then outputs to paper, to HTML, or to PDF using Adobe PDFMaker. SiberSafe Styler supports both DITA and Docbook DTDs.
Documentation can include automatically rendered tables of contents, book- and chapter-level title pages, graphical footers/headers, page numbering, section numbering, multi-level bullet and numbered lists, complex tables, and more.
SiberSafe Styler is available immediately, for a single-license fee of US$2,000 plus annual support. Most technical documentation teams will require only a single license to develop and maintain their XML publishing transformations.
* Requires Microsoft Word Professional Edition 2003/2007 (not included).
