XQuery and XML:DB Features

SiberSafe XML CMS offers the XQuery index and search capability. This functionality is based on the advanced SiberSafe  Index/Search Server infrastructure so that maintains an up-to-date XQuery index in an XML:DB-compliant engine of the user's choice. 

By default, we provide eXist XML:DB engine (http://exist.sourceforge.net) as the default SiberSafe XQuery Index/Search Engine; however, any XML database that supports the XML:DB interface can be used instead.

From the user's perspective, using its XQuery Index/Search Engine, SiberSafe automatically maintains an up-to-date XQuery index in eXist, offering a number of ways to access it, including XML:DB (using XQuery, XPath, DOM and SAX), WebDAV, HTTP/REST, XML-RPC and SOAP.

The integration of SiberSafe XML CMS and an XML:DB-based XQuery Index/Search Engine provides an unparalleled combination of technical publication design-time features traditionally available within SiberSafe (such as workflow, visual navigation, access control, versioning, classification, translation management, publishing infrastructure, link management, reuse, authoring tool integration, release management, conditionality management, index term management etc) and the state-of-the-art XML data indexing, search and retrieval features available in eXist or other XML:DB-compliant engines.

As a result of the addition of the XQuery Index/Search capability to SiberSafe, the user is able to create reports and transformations based on the XQuery syntax, as well as have programmatic access to the XML metadata through a variety of interfaces, such as XML:DB, for systems integration and other purposes.
